Ilona WitkowskaWrocław / Poland
A poetess, the winner of the Special Jury Prize of the 16th edition of Jacek Bierezin National Poetry Competition and Wrocław Silesius Poetry Award in the category “Debut of the Year” for her book “Splendida realta”. A graduate of cultural studies at the University of Wrocław. She cooperates with the artistic and literary magazine “Rita Baum.” Witkowska was a resident of the Pecs Writers Program in Hungary where she worked on the project “Pecs Diary.” It consisted of “embedding” her observations and memories from Pecs to the book “Susza” [“Drought”] by Darek Foks, establishing thus a literary dialogue with the writer. The Hungarian reality processed by the poetess’s sensitivity was juxtaposed with an existing text in an unexpected way.
