Interventions hidden
Serhij Petlyuk
born: 1981
discipline: new media / visual arts / video
residency city: Wrocław

A visual artist and painter. He graduated from the Lviv National Academy of Arts. He is a co-founder of the artistic group KOMA, an initiator of numerous cultural events often taking the form of actions in public space and involving local communities. He is a scholar of Arts Link, nominated for the most important prize awarded to young Ukrainian artists – the Pinchuk Art Centre Prize. During his residency in Wrocław he examined the impact of mass tourism on the urban tissue. He concluded that a growing number of tourists visiting Wrocław is looking mostly for nice “views” and easy pleasures, which leads to specific and often dangerous changes in the urban landscape. The effects of his work were presented in the video installation “Interventions hidden” shown at the ECoC Wrocław 2016 information point – Barbara.
