Sonja Jankov is an independent curator, who is also active as an artist. In her practice, she uses art media (in-situ and/or site-specific installations, photographs, sketches) as much as theoretic writing to present researched issues. Jankov is part of the Future Architecture Platform since 2016 and author of exhibitions and projects GIF and Cities, Post-Archive of Contemporary Art, SPENS and Socialist Sport Halls Today, GIF and Public Urban Spaces. She exhibited at the Biennale of Young Artists in Milan (2015) and authored numerous texts for exhibition catalogues, papers, reviews and critiques. She lives in Novi Sad, Serbia.
During her residency, Jankov is going to work in the area of one of the most recognisable yards in Wrocław, which at the same time is located in the very heart of the city. Ruska 46 was and still is being redesigned in order to create a space open for all kinds of cultural initiatives, especially these connected with independent scene and experimental art in public space. The yard is also a vivid hub for various organisations and institutions active in culture and art as well as with regards to social issues, such as minorities and women rights.
